About spines
Spines was founded by Menno Streefland. Since his skiing accident in 2023, we are committed to making sports safer for people through the sale of our back protectors. For every back protector sold, we donate €15 to Wings for Life, supporting research into spinal cord injury recovery.
We also believe that safety doesn't have to be boring. That's why we develop protection that athletes love to wear, because it's comfortable and looks good. All our back protectors meet the EN1621-2 safety standard.

What's next
Spines started with one back protector for winter sports. Now we protect athletes in multiple disciplines and keep looking for ways to make even more impact.
In the coming years, we want to grow further, both within the sports we are already active in and beyond. We are constantly exploring new products and categories where protection plays an important role.
Our mission remains the same: to make as many people as possible safer while playing sports and at the same time contribute to research on recovery from back injuries. We don't know exactly what that will look like in five years, but we do know that we have only just begun.
